New natural peptides, sources of new drugs discovery
GENEPEP is a private company founded in march 2003 by Dr Karine Puget and Pr Jean Martinez, a therapeutic peptide specialist. The company employs 10 scientists specialized in bioinformatics and peptide chemistry.
Peptides are involved in a various physiological processes and diseases (obesity, sleep disorders, cancer, inflammation, pain, infectious diseases, fertility disorders, etc). The discovery of new endogenous natural peptides can be a chemical starting point for the design of new therapeutics for human and human health. Nature is the major source of bioactive peptides with a therapeutic potential. In order to fulfil the pipeline of therapeutics, GENEPEP has centralized its R&D in the discovery of endogenous peptides from transcriptomes (human, mammals, insects, amphibians, marine organisms, etc).
Libraries of new endogenous peptides
Endogenous peptides are discovered by transcriptomic data mining. The transcriptome of numerous organisms are analyzed by GENEPEP bioinformatics platform. The new molecules generated are synthetized by our production department and purified. They are organized in libraries based on chemical or biological criteria (post-translational modifications, organisms or tissues of origin including tumoral tissues, ligands).
